Go to Surveys to build an FCM survey with concept lists, relationship matrices, and demographics.

Step 02

Import Responses

Import a sample CSV above, or collect real responses by publishing your survey and sharing the link.

Step 03

Analyze

Use Multi-Model and Meta Models tabs for population-scale FCM analysis.

Known Beta Limitations

  • The LLM FCM Builder's in-browser model needs a WebGPU-capable browser
  • LLM FCM Builder runs locally in the browser (or via local Ollama for power users); the optional hosted-distilled-model path is roadmap, not yet shipped

FCM Basics

Fuzzy Cognitive Maps model complex systems using weighted directed graphs. Concepts are nodes, edges show causal influence with weights from -1 to +1.

Model Builder

Add concepts, draw weighted edges, import from CSV/JSON. Models auto-save locally; use "Save to Cloud" for cross-device access.

Model Analysis

View network metrics (density, centrality), run simulations with different transfer functions, and compare what-if scenarios.

Multi-Model

Compare and aggregate FCMs from multiple stakeholders. Analyze concept frequency, edge frequency, and cross-tabulations.

Meta-Model

Population-scale analyses: total causal effects (TCEC), Bayesian uncertainty, discrete choice, temporal comparison and a discovery sweep. All run in-browser.

Surveys

Build and deploy FCM surveys with concept selection, relationship matrices, skip logic, quotas, and automatic cognitive map generation.

LLM FCM Builder

Extract a draft FCM from research text using a browser-local LLM (WebLLM by default; optional Ollama bridge for power users). Every edge carries a verbatim source quote and a confidence chip: no respondent data is sent to a third-party LLM API. Available on Academic Pro, Researcher, Professional, Team, and Enterprise.

Frequently Asked Questions

JSON (Get Causality format), CSV adjacency matrix, and plain CSV with columns for source, target, and weight. The builder auto-detects format from headers.

Model analysis, multi-model analysis, and meta-model analysis all run entirely in your browser. Survey data is stored on our encrypted servers. No analysis data is sent to external services.

When combining models, each edge is averaged over the respondents who were actually shown that relationship (its observation mask), not over everyone and not only over those who gave it a non-zero weight. This matters because a rated "No Effect" is a real answer: Kosko (1986) defines a weight of 0 as no causal effect, a point inside [-1, +1], not a blank. Averaging only non-zero values would silently estimate the average effect among people who reported an effect, which overstates the edge — on a relationship rated 0 by 35 people and 0.75 by 5, it inflates the weight eightfold. Where no observation mask exists (for example an imported matrix, where we cannot know which cells a respondent saw), the platform instead averages over all maps, treating a concept a given map does not include as a 0 (Özesmi & Özesmi, 2004, pp. 49–50); that convention applies to those models only.

No hard limit. Performance depends on your browser and dataset size. The platform warns when dataset dimensions exceed 50 million cells.
